Community Outreach

The BIA has a long history of community involvement. The BIA was one of the original founding Charter members for the Future Builders of America program in 2003 with the (FHBA) Florida Home Builders Association and their FBA Foundation providing scholarships to student chapter members pursuing construction related post secondary educational programs. Since 2003 the FBA program has expanded in size and scope adding an annual Leadership Camp for those FBA students demonstrating leadership and academic excellence.

The Lloyd Williams Scholarship was established by the BIA in 2004 as a local scholarship program for students in the community pursuing construction related educational programs. This scholarship is administered through the (MCF) Manatee Community Foundation with the BIA’s participation in the scholarship recipient’s selection each year.

The Hick's House, was a community project organized by our members to remodel a home for Karen Hicks (Sarasota County Sheriff Deputy and Guardian Ad Litem). The remodel was completely donated by our members, who donated their time and materials to complete the project.

The Parade of Homes ™ is an annual winter event that brings the latest in design and technology to showcase the areas top builders products to the residents and visitors of the community. The annual display and judging of these outstanding model homes is an annual anticipated event for Manatee and Sarasota counties.

Beer, Brats and Backpacks is our annual "Stuff the Backpack" event, benefiting the Boys and Girls Club. Members come together to gather backpacks and school supplies, them stuff the backpacks for children in our community.

The Sarasota Slam is the annual fishing tournament presented by the BIA and headquartered at the areas outstanding venue of Marina Jack in downtown Sarasota. The Sarasota Slam selects a local charity each year to receive a donation. Go to: www.sarasotaslam.com for more information.

The MSBIA hosts a annual Christmas party every year, will partial proceeds benefit a charity of choice. In the past, beneficiaries have included the Florida Baptist Childrens Homes and the Boys and Girls Club.
